About Urbanization Architects

  • Cullcheth, Cheshire

Urbanization Architects was established in 2011 and specialises in domestic architecture in extending and / or altering homes to adapt to the family needs and the enjoyment of the property. We have also been able to work on some commercial properties to enable business’s to expand. Located in Eccles, Salford, but close to the boundary with Trafford, most work is in the vicinity but we undertake projects in the North West Region an have experience with many of the Local Authorities throughout the Region.

Urbanization Architects work with the home owner to understand their aspirations, to develop the idea to scheme design proposal and then guide the customer through the planning, building regulations process through to the building construction stage.

An initial meeting at the property, to introduce each other, is to understand the scope of work envisaged and is without fee or obligation to proceed. Planning issues, or permitted development (planning permission not required) can be considered along with the constraints and opportunities for the property. A fee proposal can be submitted for consideration following the initial meeting. If the proposal is accepted, then work can commence with a measured study of the property to produce existing drawings and proposals developed from the initial briefing. The proposals can be reviewed for refining or considering an alternative to determine the scheme design.

Urbanization Architects can produce the supporting drawings and will submit the planning application on behalf of the customer, as agent, and will monitor the application through the planning process. The planning process (minimum 8 weeks from validation) is not always straight forward and sometimes additional expert reports (tree reports, acoustic surveys etc.) are required to support the application. Urbanization can help in commissioning the reports.

When a proposal has gained planning consent, the proposal should be developed in detail with construction drawings and specification along with structural design and calculations. Urbanization Architects will obtain fee quotations from a structural engineer and either the Local Authority or an approved independent Building Inspector on your behalf. The building regulations drawings and information are required also to obtain quotations from Building Contractors.
